According to https://lichess.org/dgt I installed LiveChess 2.2.5+ on my M1. The Intel x86_64 software recognized my DGT Smart Board USB at once and runs smoothly. After configuring it for Lichess and playing a friendly game with a team mate I decided to use it in our town championship.
Perhaps I’ll later write a small article about installing and configuring it, but be assured, it’s really simple. Nonetheless something went wrong in the first serious game.

I still don’t know whether I was too sloppy while moving the Queen – which obviously belongs to d5 – or whether this was an error in transmitting the move. However, in future I will be more cautious in tournament games.
